LeadingPoint Ministries - Helping Pastors and Church
Leaders to Lead the Point!
LeadingPointTM Ministries is a resource and services
ministry that exists to help pastors, elders, church leaders,
and concerned Christians to have healthier and growing churches.
Founded by Dr. Greg Tyree in 1998, LeadingPointTM has helped
pastors, churches, and church boards become more effective
in serving and building God’s church.
Pastor Greg Tyree has had a passion to help pastors and churches
since he entered the ministry two decades ago. Sensing a void
in the area of pastoral mentorship and church leadership training,
Greg seeks to bridge the gap by serving others outside his
own congregation. His specialty is “turnaround churches.”
Dr. Greg Tyree is president of LeadingPoint Turnaround Church
Ministries and pastored in Northern NJ, Pennsylvania and currently
serves as pastor of GracePointe Church in Madison Heights,
VA. He has been married to Lois since 1983. They have two
beautiful children, Lauren and Stephen.
Seminars & Workshops
Dr. Tyree is available for a limited number of seminars and
workshops. He generally “custom makes” his seminars
for the churches in which he ministers. He has conducted seminars
on:
- Turnaround Churches
- Evangelism and Outreach
- Marriage and Relationships
- Church Leadership
- Spiritual Gifts
Conferences
Pastor Greg has conducted revival meetings, Bible conferences,
and other types of church-wide conferences. He is available
for a limited number of engagements per year.
Consultations
One of the things Dr. Tyree enjoys most is the one-on-one
pastoral consultation. Whether by phone, email, or in person,
he is available for a limited number of personalized, personal
consultations.
Web Forum
LeadingPoint’s exciting website now offers a forum
by which pastors and church leaders can exchange ideas and
get much needed help, as well as serving the greater Body
of Christ by enabling leaders to help others. Drawing on the
collective wisdom and experiences of many pastors and leaders
should prove to be a benefit to all of us.
Controversial Issues
Dr. Tyree has written several booklets on controversial issues
that may be of interest to a limited number of pastors and
Christians. These titles include:
Explanation of LeadingPoint's Logo
The logo for LeadingPoint Ministries is birds in
flight. It is loosely adapted from the parable Lessons from
Geese It is typical for geese and other migratory birds to
fly in long diagonal lines or in a distinctive V formation
as they traverse the landscape. When the lead bird tires,
it merely drops back and another bird takes the more strenuous
leadership role. These changes in position continue until
the flock reaches its destination.
The purpose of LeadingPoint is to help church leaders who
mentor, advise, and guide their “flock” (of another
kind!) and help emerging leaders who are aspiring to serve
their congregations for healthy and growing communities of
faith. In other words, LeadingPoint helps those who “lead
the point.”
Lessons from Geese
Fact 1: As each goose flaps its wings, it
creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By
flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds
71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.
Lesson: People who share a common direction
and sense of community can get where they are going quicker
and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one
another.
Fact 2: Often when a goose falls out of
formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying
alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage
of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
Lesson: We must envision our destination
and identify mentors and coaches to help us along the way.
We must also be willing to assist and mentor others.
Fact 3: When the lead goose tires, it rotates
back into the formation and another goose flies to the point
position.
Lesson: It pays to take turns doing the
hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are
interdependent on each others' skills, capabilities and unique
arrangements of gifts, talents, or resources.
Fact 4: The geese flying in formation "honk"
to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
Lesson: We need to make sure our "honking"
is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, the
production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to
stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart
and core of others) is the "quality of honking"
that we seek.
Fact 5: When a goose gets sick, wounded,
or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it
down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies
or is able to fly again. Then they launch out with another
formation or catch up with the flock.
Lesson: If we are as committed to each other
as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as
well as when we are strong.

Pastor Joe Fauth
Calvary Bible Church
Wrightsville, PA

Greg Tyree has ministered to me and my church on several
occasions. We are "repeat customers." He is a model
leader, who exemplifies Christ-like leadership and is eminently
qualified to help others in the area of leadership and church
turnaround. Whether seeking spiritual renewal or leadership
and evangelism training, Dr. Tyree can help your ministry.
I am sure that pastors and leaders will find his insight to
be invaluable.
Pastor Paul Ort
First Baptist Church
Egg Harbor City, NJ

Dr. Greg Tyree is a practitioner. The many voices of researchers,
pollsters, and former pastoral leaders have brought their
insights to the discussion of turnaround. But, the realities
of local church leadership change quickly. There is no substitute
for input from front line leaders. You'll find Greg's suggestions
and principles come from real life experiences of one who
is doing it!
Dr. Gene Wood
Senior Pastor, Grace Church of Glendora, CA
Author of Leading Turnaround Churches
President of Leading Turnaround Consultants

"Greg is a an excellent leader from whom you can learn
many things. I have worked with Greg for the last three years
and have seen him model leadership. He has been instrumental
in teaching me many of the things that I should not do as
a leader."
Andrew Brown,
Grace Fellowship Church,
West Milfor, NJ

Greg does not direct others while sitting in a command center
far from the battlefield. He labors in the turbulent world
of turning churches around. This gives his books an air of
authenticity. He knows how to grow healthy churches. As you
read his books, you will discover what prevents many churches
from reaching their God-given potential. You will learn how
to turn negative situations into opportunities to glorify
God.
